SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being

SDG 3 is all about keeping everyone healthy and happy, no matter how old they are. Staying healthy is super important for everyone to take care of themselves so that our world can be a fair and great place for everyone.

Challenge Overview

The Challenge

Did you know that sometimes, changes in the weather can make it harder for people to stay healthy? This is especially true in places where people don’t have as many resources.

But here’s some good news! The MetLife Foundation is helping projects that focus on keeping us healthy by:

  1. Encouraging good habits like eating healthy and staying active.
  2. Making it easier for people to find health resources.
  3. Helping people learn how to manage their money better.
  4. Creating healthy and safe places to work.

Why It Matters

What is Well-Being?

Well-being means feeling good in different parts of your life, like:

  • Physical well-being: Feeling healthy and strong.
  • Social well-being: Having good friends and family.
  • Emotional well-being: Feeling happy and calm.
  • Financial well-being: Being able to manage money well.

Think about how things in your community make you feel in these areas.

Your Mission

Your challenge is to think of fun and creative ways you can make your community healthier and happier.

Here are some cool ideas from other young people who have made a difference:

  • Sheena Franklin: Noticed that people with darker skin were not getting the best skin care. She started K’ept Health to help people get better skin care online.
  • Shanti Das: Started Silence the Shame to help people learn about mental health and get the support they need.
  • Felicia Jackson: Created CPR Wrap to teach people how to do CPR and save lives easily.

Additional Resources

Real World Examples

  • Presence of Mind,  Helps young gamers talk about and manage their mental health.
  • EyeHarp, A musical instrument that people with disabilities can play just using their eyes.
  • Zipline, Uses drones to deliver important medical supplies to people in need.
  • Yana,  An app that helps Spanish-speaking people with mental health support.
  • Vision to Learn: Provides free eye checkups and glasses to kids so they can see better in school.

"The MetLife Foundation is proud to support this year’s World Series of Innovation. We’re excited to see WSI participants discover, develop, and launch business ideas that will make our communities healthier. Their ideas grow the ecosystem that promotes a vibrant community for all, especially for low and middle income and historically marginalized people."
