EverBank Financial Success Challenge

Your challenge is to design a product, service, or initiative that empowers youth in underserved communities with engaging financial literacy tools, helping them build a more inclusive and resilient future.

SDG 4: Quality Education

This challenge ties into SDG 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Financial literacy is a critical part of this goal, as it equips young people with the skills they need to make informed decisions about their money, careers, and futures.

Imagine you have the power to create something that will help youth in underserved communities learn to manage their money, plan for the future, and start businesses. What would you design?

Challenge Overview

Why It Matters:

Your solution should focus on accessibility, engagement, and empowerment. How can you make financial literacy feel relevant, fun, and impactful for youth in underserved communities? How can you help them build a long-term, sustainable foundation for financial success?

Building an inclusive and resilient future for youth means giving them the tools they need to manage their finances and create their own opportunities. Financial literacy is a key foundation for personal success. When youth understand how money works, they can make informed decisions about their futures, whether it’s saving for a goal, starting a business, or planning for life after school.

Examples of an inclusive and resilient future:

  • Thriving family businesses passed down through generations, creating long-term wealth and community support.
  • Young entrepreneurs who start small businesses, creating jobs and empowering their peers.
  • Students who understand their financial security early on plan for higher education, careers, and beyond with confidence.

Your solution could help young people gain these skills and take control of their financial futures, creating more resilient communities in the process.

What To Think About:

When designing your solution, think about these elements:

  • Access to financial tools that help young people learn how to budget, save, and invest, making financial literacy more engaging and relevant.
  • Mentorship and support, helping youth connect with experienced individuals who can guide them in managing their money and growing their business ideas.
  • Opportunities for youth to start micro-businesses, giving them hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and building financial independence.
  • Engaging, user-friendly platforms, like apps, games, or workshops, that make learning financial skills fun and interactive.

How to Get Started:

Research the community needs  What financial challenges do young people in underserved communities face? What tools or resources are currently available to them?
Brainstorm ideas  Think about what would make learning about money fun and easy for youth. How could you create a tool or service that young people would actually want to use?
Design your solution  Use your creativity to design a product, service, or initiative that solves the problem. Keep in mind how you can make it simple, engaging, and accessible.
Plan for impact  How will you know if your solution is working? Think about how you could measure success and ensure your solution reaches those who need it the most.

This challenge is about empowering youth with financial knowledge and creating lasting opportunities for them to succeed. Your creative ideas can help young people take control of their futures, build resilient communities, and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable world.
