Here are the top competitors in the 2023-24 academic year NFTE World Series of Innovation.

Aramco Connected Cities Challenge - 2023

The Challenge: Design a solution, using emerging technologies, to make transportation infrastructure more efficient, accessible, or sustainable in cities.

Winners

  • First Place: Greenpath, integrates infrared sensors on traffic lights to provide real-time monitoring, dynamic adjustments, and adaptive time, to improve the efficiency of traffic flows and road safety. Submitted by Wei Jhong Lee (16), Aaron Chen (16), Ruei-Cheng Lang (16), and Cheng-Han Wu (16) from Kang Chiao International School in Taiwan. See their video here.
  • Second Place: WayWise, keeps you safe on the road with travel routes projected onto the windshield for incredibly accurate and simple directions. Submitted by a team from California, USA. See their video here.
  • Third Place: ElectroPace, a clean, renewable electricity generated by kinetic energy from people footsteps over the tile floor by utilizing IoT and AI. Submitted by Batool Alabdullah (22), Zainab Shafeeq (23), Ali Assuleiteen (21), and Talal Alreda (21) from King Faisal University in Saudi Arabia. See their video here.

Finalists

  • CleanJet, a long-term, sustainable and time-efficient solution for unclogging blocked drains. Submitted by a team from India. See their video here.
  • EcoMile Logistics, increases the sustainability and efficiency of transportation for delivery service. Submitted by a team from California, United States. See their video here.
  • I-traffic, an AI-operating traffic lights system that omits unnecessary waiting time for red lights to turn green, thrives for optimal city livability. Submitted by a team from Taiwan. See their video here.
  • Navstick, a concept for a cane with an integrated GPS, AI chat feature, and safety mechanics that help blind individuals navigate around areas easier and safely. Submitted by a team from Texas, United States.
  • Road crossing button, integrates pedestrian safety has poles with buttons, timers, and audible signals at zebra crossings, ensuring enhanced safety and reinforced by stringent enforcement measures, including CCTV surveillance and penalties for non-compliance. Submitted by a team from India.
  • SalekVision, a technical system that alerts the driver while driving of the presence of potholes, bumps, and sewage holes and reports these obstacles in their locations to the competent authorities. Submitted by a team from Saudi Arabia. See their video here.
  • عربات تحت الارض لنقل النفايات, an electronically controlled ground tunnel network for transporting waste vehicles from residential neighborhoods to recycling plants. Submitted by a team from Saudi Arabia. See their video here.
