SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation: SDG 6 is one of the United Nations' goals to make sure everyone has access to clean water and good sanitation. This targets:

  • Clean Water: Everyone to have water that is affordable, and safe to drink and use.
  • Sanitation: Everyone to have a safe and clean place to go to the bathroom.

Imagine you have a magical machine that could make dirty puddles or polluted rivers safe to drink - how would you design it?

Many places around the world don't clean water to drink. Dirty water can make people and animals sick. For example, in some parts of the world, kids might have to search hard to find clean water. We want your help to find new ways to help everyone get the clean water they need.

Your challenge is to design a tool or machine that can clean dirty water!

Here are some things to think about:

  • How does it work? Think about how your machine will remove germs, dirt, and other harmful things form water.
  • Is it affordable? Your design should be something people can use without spending too much money on.
  • Is it easy to use? Imagine someone who have never seen your machine before. Can they use it without a lot of help?
  • Is it friendly to the environment? Your idea should help people without hurting the planet.

Real-World Examples:

  • The Lifestraw: This is a special straw that people can use to drink clean water from dirty sources. It filters out harmful stuff, so the water is safe to drink.
  • Water Purification Tablets: These are small tablets that can be added to water to kill germs and make it safe to drink. They're often used in emergencies or by people who don’t have access to clean water.
  • Seabin: Seabin is like a giant vacuum for the water that helps clean up trash and oil from lakes and harbors.

Draw your design, build a model, or explain how your tool works and how it will help people and animals get clean water. Share your idea and be a part of the solution to make the world a better place. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
